How to Check Building Standards and Product Compliance
Use standards, codes and approvals together. The correct compliance path depends on the product, market, project jurisdiction and contract requirements.
1. Identify the destination market
Start with the country, state or local jurisdiction where the building product will be installed.
2. Confirm the required standard or code
Check the current edition, adoption status, amendments and the exact product or test scope that applies.
3. Check product-specific approvals
Verify report numbers, exact models, limitations, installation conditions and certificate status where required.
4. Separate disclosure from approval
EPDs and HPDs provide environmental or material-health information; they are not substitutes for product approval.
